Bleach kills mould

Bleach cannot soak into porous surfaces like timber and plasterboard. The chlorine stays on top, the water soaks in, and the roots get a drink. It takes the colour out and the mould comes back.

A musty smell is often the first sign. Mould can grow behind plasterboard, in ceiling voids and inside the air-con long before it shows on a wall.

Step one

Spray and kill

The contamination is treated first, before anything gets disturbed. Scrubbing mould dry is what spreads spores and mycotoxins through a house. Our plant-based treatment neutralises it where it sits.

Step two

Remove and remediate

Affected surfaces are cleaned and remediated, and we find what fed it: the leak, the fan, the airflow. Skip that part and it is back by next wet season.

Step three

Prevent regrowth

A preventative treatment leaves a protective, mould-resistant barrier on surfaces, and ULV misting treats the air and the spots you cannot reach. Every job carries a six-month warranty.

Storm damage, a slow roof leak, or warm damp air meeting a cool ceiling. By the time you see a stain, it has usually been growing on the other side for a while.

The Mould Medico family

We moved into a rainforest property in the hinterland, and it was the dream. Then a severe storm damaged the house and toxic mould took hold, fast.

Our partner, who is immunocompromised, became critically unwell. What followed was Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and life-threatening seizure episodes.

Out of that came a mission: learn mould properly, and remove it without putting more harsh chemicals into homes that are already making people sick.

Does bleach kill mould?

Not properly. Bleach cannot soak into porous materials like timber or plasterboard. The water soaks in, the chlorine stays on the surface, and the roots are left alive with a fresh drink. It takes the colour out, so it looks gone, then it comes back. The fumes are also hard on lungs, especially with asthma.

If I can't see mould, am I okay?

Not necessarily. A musty, damp or stale smell is often the first sign. That smell comes from gases mould gives off (MVOCs), and it travels through wall cavities and ceilings from mould you cannot see.

Is the product you use safe?

Yes. It is an Australian-made Microbial Control Technology made from over 20 plant actives, TGA-tested and approved, and independently validated by Eurofins | AMS. It is safe to use around babies, children, pets and pregnant women, and it is biodegradable.
